New Poster I'm working on.

So i was feeling inspired on a drive today to make a poster for Tron, but classic. So I got the idea from this youtube video by Hexagonall.

Tron vs. Saul Bass from Hexagonall on Vimeo.

So i wanted to make a poster based on the cool movies of the 60's

Some of my inspirations:

...and The Incredibles theme, if i could find a video

After the Rough Cut

After i last wrote i was in a panic. I was waiting on Randy to do his part for our Flash project and my footage just wasn't importing no matter what i tried; Mary VerPlank couldn't help me, and i had the same problems when uploading to Jose's computer. So needless to say my Thanksgiving weekend wasn't the most enjoyable. After the break, the footage finally worked out so i could get on to editing. I was in the lab a lot last week, about 20 hours total just trying to get all my projects done.

So today i finished my rough cut, and it took a while. After composing the music for both the theme and the background, it was time to get started. I first edited all the clips into a cohesive timeline with Final Cut. Then i took that into After Effects to fill in the green screen. Then i went back into final cut for the cutaways and fades and to just tie everything together.

All in all i think my rough cut is pretty good. The only thing about it is that i dont like my voice over. I had to reshoot the parts too many times and by the time i edited it, i had to go with "the best take" which sometimes wasn't good enough. But i cant redo the video now so that's what i have to work with.

Today's work

Today I did my filming at Cleveland High School. I had originally planned to meet Nilton at 11 to get a boom mic from the equipment room since he was going to be using it on Saturday, but that didn't work out because i was on a strict deadline. Me and Chris arrived at about 11:30 and setting up was a snap because all we needed to bring was the camera and mixer. Everything else was pretty much provided for us; the tripod, microphones, and especially the flawless green screen for the background. And we only need two people for the shoot, since we could just have the boom mic on a mic stand. So we had everything set up within about 20 minutes with no unexpected technical problems.

So after that we had about 45 minutes to shoot, not too bad for a project that is only going to be 4 minutes in length. The teachers at the school needed the studio during lunch time for a club meeting. Me and Chris ran through all the lines a few times, because i just could not get them down completely without messing them up, which is okay because we could just do take upon take of the same lines, each time doing them better and better until i got it perfect. So we finished filming and still had some time to spare so we filmed an all-new introduction, just for options.

So we finished just in time and packed everything up. Then in class, I imported my footage, but had to do it on a mac because my computer doesn't have a big firewire port. I could put my Premiere project on my flash drive no problem but im having problems getting the footage on there because it says every time that there was an "unexpected error" whatever that means. So now i need to either come in to lab hours on monday or find someone with a DV camera so i can re-import the footage to my computer. ugh!

First Podcast post

So I'm doing a podcast about Skype and ive jotted down a list of things that make Skype different that other messaging programs. so far:

1. Free Skype to Skype phone/video calls, calls cell phones and landlines and vice versa (with subscription) and has handsets compatible with Skype. Sends Text IMs text messages to phones, group chat and phone/video conferences.

a. AIM - annoying pop up ads and run arounds, declining popularity

b. iChat- Mac only

c. Google Talk- internet voice chat only

d. ICQ- Has a community and chat rooms but who uses it?

e. Vonage- Required monthly fee that costs more, have to buy equipment to use home phone

2. Online Voicemail (with subscription)

3. Available on PSP, iPhone, smart phones

4. Screen sharing- show what’s on your screen to other users
